The Q-Focuser brackets for the Redcat and Askar scopes
work the same way as in the EAF videos below.
These dedicated brackets allow you to mount a QHY Q-Focuser onto
various telescopes.
PLEASE NOTE THE VERSION DIFFERENCE - "HP" = High Precision Version, "ST" = Standard Version. For example, Q-FocuserHP-Redcat71 is the bracket for the Q-Focuser High Precision version on a Redcat 71 focuser.
William Optics Redcat 51 and Redcat 71
The drive system is belt driven and results in zero additional backlash.
The side opposite the Q-Focuser has a standard Synta shoe/saddle
for mounting additional accessories such as an ASIAir or Pegasus Powerbox
etc.
Redcat 51 notes: The bracket can be mounted with or without
the top handle and different length mounting screws are provided.
The design also allows the bracket to remain on the scope even when the
dew shield is reversed, covering the rubber grip for transport.
Q-Focuser-Redcat51-Plus : QHY Q-Focuser bracket for the Redcat 51 (V1x and V2). The new Plus version includes an innovative flexible gear that push fits onto the Redcat helical focuser and provides a much stronger grip for the belt.
Q-Focuser-Redcat71 : QHY Q-Focuser bracket for the Redcat 71.
REDCAT 51 VERSION NOTE: There have been 3 versions of the Redcat 51. The original (V1) had two threaded mounting holes on the side of the scope ring. The later two versions (V1x and V2) have 4 threaded holes on the top of the scope ring. This bracket will work with V1x and V2. A bracket for the Redcat 51 V1 is available upon request by sending a message to buckeyestargazer@gmail.com.
Askar FMA230
Since the focus ring on the Askar FMA230 helical focuser also moves with
rotation, an innovative design was necessary to mount a Q-Focuser on the
scope. This was accomplished by creating a longer Q-Focuser pulley
and incorporating a support pin on the other side of the pulley so the
pulley does not flex during use.
The bracket can be mounted on either side of the scope, and all necessary
hardware is included.
